NOLA Maid Easy cleaner arriving for a house cleaning New Orleans appointment

House cleaning New Orleans homeowners can book without a phone call: run the estimator, see your flat price, pick a date. We're a local company out of Metairie with crews in the city every working day, from shotgun doubles in the Irish Channel to rebuilt raised houses in Lakeview. This page covers what a clean includes, what it costs, how we handle each neighborhood, and how to get on the schedule this week.

New Orleans houses are a different job. A 1,500 sq ft shotgun with 12-foot ceilings has more surface area to dust than a 2,000 sq ft slab ranch in the suburbs. There's crown molding, picture rail, a transom over every door, and a ceiling fan in every room. Old heart-pine floors don't want a wet mop. Plaster walls don't want a scrub pad. And the humidity is the real problem: grout, AC vent covers, window sills and the back of the closet grow mildew here in a way they don't in drier places.

So our checklist was written for this city. Mildew spots get a brush, not a quick wipe. Tall ceilings get an extension duster and the fan blades get done every visit. Transoms get looked at. And every crew knows the difference between a 1890s Uptown double and a 2008 Lakeview rebuild before they walk in the door.

House cleaning New Orleans — what's included

Same checklist every visit, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Kitchen

Counters, backsplash, sink and faucet, cabinet fronts, outside of every appliance, stovetop, microwave inside and out, table and chairs, floors. Trash taken out and the bag replaced.

Bathrooms

Tub, shower walls, tile and grout, toilet inside, outside and behind, sink, counters, mirrors, fixtures polished, floors. Mildew in the corners and caulk lines gets a brush, because in New Orleans humidity a wipe only buys you a week.

Bedrooms & living rooms

Dusted top to bottom: fan blades, light fixtures we can safely reach, blinds, window sills, baseboards, door frames, picture frames. Beds made, or sheets changed if you leave fresh ones out. Vacuum, then mop hard floors.

The old-house details

Transoms, picture rail, the top of door casings, chair rail, heat registers, floor vents and AC return covers. That's where the grey fuzz builds up in a high-ceiling house, and most cleaners never look up.

Need more? Inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows and inside the cabinets are add-ons in the estimator. Tick them and the price updates on the spot. For a first visit on a house that's been let go a while, book a deep cleaning instead of a standard clean. You'll be happier with the result.

What house cleaning in New Orleans costs

We charge a flat rate based on the house, not by the hour. These are real numbers from our estimator for a home in normal condition, one-time clean:

Home sizeStandard cleanDeep cleanMove-in / move-out
1,200 sq ft, 1 bathabout $210about $294about $368
1,500 sq ft, 2 bathsabout $263——
1,800 sq ft, 2 bathsabout $309about $432about $540
2,500 sq ft, 3 bathsabout $453about $618about $763

Most house cleaning New Orleans quotes we give land between the first and third rows. A typical Uptown or Mid-City double, one side, is usually 1,000 to 1,400 sq ft. A Garden District center-hall or a Lakeview rebuild often runs 2,500 and up. Our minimum visit is $180.

Go recurring with The Standing Clean and you get 5–20% off your first-clean price: 20% weekly, 12% every two weeks, 5% monthly. Same crew, same slot. For a full breakdown of what moves the price, see our New Orleans house cleaning cost guide.

New Orleans neighborhoods we clean

We do house cleaning New Orleans-wide, all over Orleans Parish. The neighborhood changes how we plan the visit, so here's how we think about each one:

  • Uptown — Shotgun doubles, camelbacks and big raised houses off Magazine, Freret and Oak Street. High ceilings mean the extension duster comes out in every room. Near Tulane and Loyola, residential permit parking is real, so tell us if there's a driveway or a spot out front.
  • Garden District — Raised center-halls and Greek Revival homes along Prytania and First Street, with 12- to 14-foot ceilings, heart-pine floors and plaster medallions. These usually book as 2,500+ sq ft cleans, and the millwork alone takes real time.
  • Lower Garden District — Townhouses around Coliseum Square and a lot of converted condos. Narrow stairs, tall windows, and St. Charles is a parade route, so we plan around closures in Carnival season.
  • Irish Channel — Shotgun singles and doubles between Magazine and Tchoupitoulas. No hallway, so we clean front to back room by room. The neighborhood's St. Patrick's Day parade in March brings the same post-parade mess as Mardi Gras on a smaller scale.
  • Mid-City — Raised doubles and bungalows off Canal, Carrollton and Banks Street. Endymion rolls through here the Saturday before Mardi Gras, and the streets close early. Glitter and grit get tracked in for weeks after.
  • Lakeview — Much of it was rebuilt or raised after Katrina: bigger footprints, open kitchens, three bathrooms, and a lot of glass. These are the closest city homes to our Metairie base.
  • Gentilly — Brick ranches and raised-basement bungalows in Gentilly Terrace and around Dillard and UNO. Tile floors through the living areas mean the grout matters more than the square footage.
  • Bayou St. John — Creole cottages and big old houses along Moss Street and Esplanade. Close to the water means more humidity, so closets and bathroom ceilings get a closer look for mildew.
  • Treme — Creole cottages and shotguns near Armstrong Park. Second-line Sundays run from fall into spring, so we keep Sunday-adjacent visits flexible on timing.
  • Marigny & Bywater — Colorful Creole cottages and shotguns, steep steps and tiny courtyards. Street parking only and permit zones in parts of the Marigny, so a note about where the crew can park saves time.
  • French Quarter condos — Walk-ups and courtyard units with no elevator, wrought-iron balconies, and the grime that blows in from the street. Parking is the hardest part of the job, so tell us about a loading spot or a garage when you book.
  • Warehouse District & CBD lofts — Old warehouse buildings turned into lofts, with exposed brick, concrete or old plank floors and tall windows. Many buildings have front desks, freight elevators and their own rules for vendors. Tell us in the notes and we'll follow them.
  • Algiers Point — Victorian cottages and shotguns across the river, by the ferry landing and the levee. Same price and same crews as the East Bank, no Westbank surcharge.
  • New Orleans East — 1970s and '80s brick homes on slabs in Lake Forest, Eastover and nearby neighborhoods. Bigger lots, bigger rooms, and usually two or three bathrooms.

Need help just outside the parish line? We also do house cleaning in Metairie, plus Gretna and Kenner.

House cleaning in New Orleans — questions we get on the phone

How much does house cleaning cost in New Orleans?

A standard clean on a 1,200 sq ft, one-bath New Orleans home runs about $210. A 1,800 sq ft, two-bath house is about $309, and a 2,500 sq ft, three-bath house is about $453. A deep clean on that same 1,800 sq ft house is about $432.

The Standing Clean takes 5–20% off your first-clean price, and our minimum visit is $180. Run the estimator above for your exact number.

Do you come into the city, or just Metairie?

All of New Orleans is regular service area for us. Uptown, the Garden District, Mid-City, Lakeview, Gentilly, the Marigny and Bywater, the French Quarter, the CBD, Algiers Point and New Orleans East all get the same flat pricing for house cleaning New Orleans homeowners book online.

There's no travel fee and no different minimum for being on the other side of the parish line.

Do I need to be home when you clean?

No. Most of our New Orleans customers are at work. Put a door code, lockbox, or key instructions in the booking notes. For a condo or loft, tell us how the front desk or callbox works.

You get a text when the crew arrives and another when they're done.

Do you clean old houses with heart-pine floors and plaster walls?

All the time. Heart pine gets a damp mop, never a soaking. Plaster, crown molding and ceiling medallions get dry-dusted. Transoms over the doors get wiped because they're part of the house, not an extra.

If you have a camelback or an unusual floor finish, mention it in the notes so we schedule the right amount of time.

Can I get the same cleaners every time?

Yes, that's what The Standing Clean is for. Same crew, same day and time slot, weekly (20% off), every two weeks (12% off) or monthly (5% off) your first-clean price.

No contract. Reschedule free up to 48 hours ahead. A skip or cancellation inside 48 hours carries a $50 late fee.

Do you bring your own supplies and vacuum?

Yes, everything comes with the crew and it's included in the price. If you want us to use your products because of a pet, an allergy, or a floor finish, leave them on the counter and say so in the notes.

Are your cleaners insured and background-checked?

Every cleaner is our employee, not an app contractor, and every one is background-checked before their first job. We're licensed, insured and bonded in Louisiana.

If something gets damaged, you call us and we make it right.

Can you clean the week of Mardi Gras or right before a storm?

Yes, with some planning. During parade season we book around the route closures, so an Uptown or Mid-City visit may move to the morning. Before a named storm we run as long as it's safe to drive and reschedule free if the city shuts down.

Book early either way. Those weeks fill up first.

Cleaning a New Orleans house through the seasons

This city has a calendar, and good house cleaning New Orleans homes actually need changes with it. Here's what we change through the year so you don't have to ask.

Spring: oak pollen and termite wings

In early spring the live oaks drop yellow pollen on everything. It coats porches, gets on window sills, and gets tracked across the front room. In those weeks we wipe sills and the floor just inside the front door every visit, and we suggest adding interior windows once the pollen is done. Then in May the Formosan termites swarm on warm evenings, and you wake up to wings piled under every lamp and window. We clean those up as part of the regular visit.

Carnival: glitter and parade routes

If you live near St. Charles, Napoleon, Canal or Orleans Avenue, the streets close hours before the parades roll. We book those visits early in the day or on days with no parade on your route. After Mardi Gras, glitter gets into rug fibers, grout lines and the tracks of sliding doors. It takes more than one vacuum pass, so the first clean after Fat Tuesday is a good time for a deep clean.

Summer: humidity and mildew

From June to September the air is wet and the AC runs all day. That's when mildew shows up on bathroom ceilings, AC vent covers, the back wall of closets, and on leather and wood that sits against an outside wall. We look for it on every visit and treat the spots we can reach. If you're finding it in the same place every week, that's usually a moisture or ventilation issue worth having a contractor check. Cleaning alone won't fix it.

Hurricane season: before and after a storm

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. If a storm is coming, we keep cleaning as long as the roads are safe, and if the city shuts down we move your visit for free. When you come back after an evacuation or a long power outage, a clean with the inside-fridge add-on gets the kitchen back to normal. One honest note: if water got into the house, call a water damage or mold company first. That's remediation work, not house cleaning, and we'll come in after they're done.

What we need from you on the first visit

  • A way in — code, key, lockbox, or front desk instructions in the booking notes.
  • A parking note — driveway, permit zone, garage, or loading spot. In the Quarter, Marigny and near the universities this saves real time.
  • Pets taken care of — crated or in a closed room if they don't like the vacuum.
  • A heads-up on anything fragile or special — the antique mirror, the unsealed marble, the floor you refinished last year.

The first visit runs longer than the ones after it. That's normal. The crew is learning your house. After that, every house cleaning New Orleans visit runs on the same checklist, top to bottom and back of the house to the front door.
