House Cleaning in Gretna
Yes, we cross the river, and no, it does not cost you extra. Gretna is about twenty-five minutes from our Metairie base over the Huey P. Long, and it is a scheduled run, not a favour.

The first question almost every Westbank caller asks is whether we actually come over. A lot of metro cleaning companies say they serve the Westbank and then quietly never have a slot. We run it as a route, which is the only way it works — a cluster of Gretna and Terrytown houses on the same day rather than one job stranded across the bridge.
Practically, that means Gretna availability is real but it is concentrated. If you want a specific day, book it into the recurring schedule and it holds. One-off Tuesday afternoons are harder here than they are in Metairie, and we will tell you that up front instead of cancelling on you later.
Two Gretnas, two different cleans
The city has a split personality in housing terms, and the crews are briefed on which one they are walking into.
Historic Gretna
The grid around Huey P. Long Avenue, Mckinley and Lafayette. Shotguns, Creole cottages and small Victorians from the 1890s onward. Wood floors, some original, plaster or beadboard walls, transoms, and ceilings tall enough that nobody has dusted the casings.
Postwar Gretna
West of the tracks and out toward Belle Chasse Highway. 1950s to 1970s brick on slab, carports, terrazzo or vinyl, popcorn ceilings, utility room off the back.
Terrytown and Timberlane
Larger 1960s-80s subdivisions with attached garages, more square footage, more bathrooms, and enough tile that floors become the bulk of the visit.
Raised and rebuilt
Plenty of Westbank houses have had a floor replaced or a full interior redo since 2005. Engineered hardwood and LVP are everywhere now, and both want a damp microfiber rather than a wet mop.

The things that actually come up over here
- Humidity and closed-up rooms. A spare bedroom with the door shut and the vent closed will grow something on the exterior wall. We say something when we see it rather than wiping it and moving on.
- Slab moisture at the baseboard. On a 1960s slab house a soft or chalky baseboard is a sign, not a stain. It is not a cleaning problem and we will tell you honestly that it is not.
- Ceiling fans running year round. Standard here. Blades get done every visit, not once a season.
- Back-door traffic. Carports and back steps mean the utility room and the rear hall take the dirt. That is where the time goes on a first clean.
- Original wood in the historic grid. Damp microfiber and a pH-neutral cleaner, then dry. No wet mop, no vinegar, no steam.

Bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, frequency. A flat number comes back on screen — the same number whether you are in Gretna or in Old Metairie. We do not add a Westbank line.
Why there is no travel charge
Because the route absorbs it. When a crew does three Westbank houses in a day the bridge is one crossing, not three, and the cost per stop is no different from a Metairie morning. Charging you for a bridge we cross once would be a made-up fee and we do not have any.
What we ask in exchange is a little patience with the arrival window. The Westbank Expressway at eight in the morning is what it is.
Where we go on this side of the river
Gretna proper, including the historic district and Mel Ott Park. Terrytown from Carol Sue through to Wright Avenue. Harvey along Manhattan. Timberlane and the streets off Belle Chasse Highway. Westwego and Marrero on the recurring schedule; Algiers Point and Behrman on request.
Nearby and related
Across the river we cover New Orleans, Uptown and Metairie. Looking for a standing schedule rather than a one-off? Recurring cleaning is how most Westbank clients book, because the route makes a standing slot far easier to hold than a one-off.
Moving out of a rental? Move-out cleaning is scoped to the inspection sheet. Just moved in? Move-in cleaning is far easier to do properly while the place is still empty.
What we do not do
- Exterior windows above the first floor, or any ladder work past a two-step.
- Pressure washing — driveways, carport slabs, siding or porch steps.
- Mold remediation. Surface mildew on tile and baseboard yes; anything structural is a licensed trade.
- Junk removal or clearing a room before we can clean it. Tell us in advance and we will price the job as it really is.

Gretna house cleaning — what people ask
Do you actually come to the Westbank?
Yes, on a scheduled route. Gretna, Terrytown, Harvey, Timberlane, Westwego and Marrero. Because we run it as a cluster, recurring slots are much easier to get than one-off appointments — and we would rather say that than promise a Tuesday we cannot keep.
Is there a bridge or travel charge for Gretna?
No. Your price is the same as it would be in Metairie. The route absorbs the crossing, so there is nothing to pass on and we do not invent a fee for it.
How much does house cleaning cost in Gretna?
The same as it does anywhere else we work — a 1,400 square foot shotgun is $245 for a maintenance clean, a 2,400 square foot Timberlane house with three baths is $437. Square footage and bathroom count set the number, not which side of the river you are on. Full table on the cleaning cost page.
Can you clean original wood floors in the historic district?
Yes, and carefully. Damp microfiber with a pH-neutral cleaner, then a dry pass. No wet mop, no vinegar and no steam on old wood — standing water in a hundred-year-old seam is what lifts a finish.
What time do you usually arrive in Gretna?
Because it runs as a route, Westbank mornings start after the Expressway settles. We give you a window and we text when the crew is genuinely on the way rather than when they leave the yard.
What the first visit usually turns up
Not a sales list. These are just the four things we find in most Westbank houses on a first clean, and it is better you know now than hear it on the day.
- The back door and utility room. Carport and back-step traffic lands here and it is nobody's Saturday priority. Expect this to take real time on visit one.
- Ceiling fan blades. Running eleven months a year in this climate. On a first clean in a house with six fans this alone is a chunk of the morning.
- Shower caulk and grout. Humidity plus an extractor fan that was never quite strong enough. It comes back further than people expect with a brush and the right product.
- Window tracks. In the historic grid the old wood sashes hold years of grit in the channel. Vacuumed first, then wiped.
What a standard visit covers
Kitchen counters, backsplash, sink, cooktop, range front, microwave inside and out, cabinet and appliance exteriors. Every bathroom including tub and shower walls, grout, the caulk line, the toilet inside, outside and behind. Top-down dusting throughout — sills, blinds, fan blades, vent registers, picture frames. Floors vacuumed and then mopped with whatever the floor actually is.
