House cleaning in Mid-City is mostly three kinds of house: a single shotgun, a double somebody turned into one house, and a raised 1920s bungalow with a ground level that is either finished or full of bikes. They clean differently, and a company that quotes all three off square footage is guessing at two of them.
We work this neighborhood constantly — Canal, Carrollton, Jeff Davis, the Bayou, Esplanade Ridge. Flat price up front, no walkthrough required, and it does not change on the day.
What Mid-City houses actually need
Shotgun layouts
Room-to-room with no hallway means dust has nowhere to go but forward. We work back to front so we are not pushing it through rooms we already finished.
Renovated doubles
Two kitchens or two baths is common even after a conversion. Tell us at booking — it is the single biggest thing that changes the time on site.
Original wood floors
Damp microfiber, pH-neutral, dry pass. A lot of these boards were refinished once after Katrina and will not take a second aggressive cleaning.
Raised-house lower levels
Cleaned only if you want it. Most people use it for storage and laundry and leave it off the list.
Window AC and vent grilles
Wiped and vacuumed on the deep clean. In a humid house this is where the smell people complain about usually starts.
Renter turnovers
Inside cabinets, inside the fridge, oven, blinds, sills, baseboards. Different scope from a maintenance clean and priced as one.

Jazz Fest, and being honest about it
Late April into early May, the blocks around the Fair Grounds stop being drivable by late morning. Gentilly Boulevard, Mystery Street, Fortin, the whole grid over there.
We do not pretend otherwise and we do not quietly no-show. Mid-City jobs get scheduled for mornings that fortnight, and if a day is genuinely not workable we say so when you book instead of the night before.

How often makes sense
| Schedule | Who it fits |
|---|---|
| Weekly | Households with kids or dogs, or a shotgun where the whole house is one traffic path. |
| Every two weeks | The most common in Mid-City. Keeps a house ahead of the humidity without paying for weekly. |
| Monthly | Couples and single professionals who keep up day to day and want the detail work done. |
| Turnover / one-time | Between tenants, after a renovation, or before you list. Scoped as a move-out clean. |
The streets we cover
- Canal Street and the streetcar blocks — doubles and mixed-use, heavier street dust in the front rooms.
- Bayou St. John and Esplanade Ridge — bigger raised houses, more original detail, more surface area than the square footage suggests.
- Carrollton and Toulouse — a lot of renovated doubles and small singles.
- Toward City Park — family houses, weekly and fortnightly work.
- Tulane Avenue side — apartments and converted units, mostly turnover cleans.
Renovation dust is its own job
Mid-City has been under renovation more or less continuously since 2006, and drywall dust does not behave like house dust. It is finer, it is everywhere, and it comes back twice after you think you have it.
If contractors have been in the house in the last month, do not book a standard clean and hope. That is what post-construction cleaning is for — it is a three-pass job and we price it as one.
What we do not do
- Exterior windows, or anything off a ladder taller than a two-step.
- Ground-level storage areas full of belongings — we clean space, not sort possessions.
- Mold behind walls or in ductwork. Surface mildew yes, remediation no.
- Pressure washing porches, steps or siding.
Nearby and related
We also clean Uptown, Lakeview and the rest of New Orleans. Ending a lease? Move-out cleaning. First clean is usually a deep clean, then it drops to recurring.
Cleaning a shotgun without pushing dust through the house
A shotgun has no hallway. Every room opens into the next, which means anything you stir up in the front room has exactly one direction to travel: deeper into the house you already cleaned.
So we work back to front. Last room first, front door last, and the vacuum goes on the return trip rather than the way in. It sounds like a small thing. It is the difference between a shotgun that looks clean and one that looks clean for a week.
- Doubles converted to singles — often still have two kitchens or two full baths. That doubles the wet-room time, so tell us before the crew arrives rather than after.
- Raised houses — the lower level is usually storage and laundry. We leave it out unless you ask, and if you do ask, it is cleaning, not sorting.
- Window units and vent grilles — in a humid house this is where the smell people complain about actually starts. On the deep clean, always.
- Post-renovation dust — if trades have been in within the month, a standard clean will not hold. That is post-construction work and it is three passes, not one.

Mid-City house cleaning — what people ask
How much does house cleaning cost in Mid-City?
Most Mid-City shotguns and doubles land between $150 and $260 for a recurring clean. A renovated double that is now one house prices closer to a small single than to two apartments. Put the address in the estimator and you get a flat number in about a minute.
Do you clean rental doubles between tenants?
Yes, and it is a big part of what we do in Mid-City. A turnover clean is not the same as a maintenance clean — it covers inside cabinets, inside the fridge and oven, window sills, blinds and the baseboards. Book it as a move-out clean so the crew shows up scoped for it.
Can you get to us during Jazz Fest?
Yes, but book early and expect us outside the Fair Grounds window. Late April and early May, the streets around Gentilly Boulevard, Mystery and Fortin are a parking lot from late morning. We schedule Mid-City jobs for mornings that fortnight and tell you up front if a day is not realistic.
Our house is raised with a basement level — is that extra?
Only if you want the lower level cleaned. Plenty of Mid-City raised houses use the ground floor for storage and laundry, and we leave it out unless you say otherwise. Add it in the booking note and it is priced as part of the flat rate, not a surprise.
Do you handle the humidity smell in a house that has been closed up?
We can clean the surfaces that cause it — baseboards, inside closets, behind furniture, the AC vent grilles and the drip pan area you can reach. If it is coming from inside the wall or the ductwork, that is a remediation or HVAC job and we will tell you straight rather than sell you another clean.
