NOLA Maid Easy cleaner arriving for deep cleaning in New Orleans, LA

Deep cleaning New Orleans houses is its own job, because the houses here are their own thing: 12-foot ceilings, crown molding nobody has dusted since the last owner, heart-pine floors that can't take a bucket of water, and a bathroom with original tile and a clawfoot tub. That's the work we're set up for. Below you'll find what a New Orleans deep clean covers, real prices, the neighborhoods we're in every week, and how to get on the calendar without a walkthrough.

Think about a typical shotgun double off Magazine or a Creole cottage in the Marigny. Narrow rooms run front to back, so dust and pollen blow straight through from the front door to the kitchen. Transoms above every doorway catch grime on both sides. Pocket doors hide a track full of grit and a door edge nobody can see. Window units drip and grow mildew on the sill below them. None of that comes off in a regular wipe-down, and most cleaning checklists weren't written with these houses in mind.

Then there's the air. From May through October the humidity in the city rarely lets up, and a closed closet in an old house will grow mildew on shoes and the back wall before you notice the smell. Grout in a 1940s bathroom soaks it up too. A deep clean is how you get a house like this back to zero, so regular upkeep can actually hold.

Deep cleaning New Orleans homes — what's included

Every deep clean includes our full standard checklist. These are the extras that make it a deep clean, written for the houses we actually walk into here:

High ceilings and crown molding

High spots are on the list. Crown molding, picture rail, the tops of door casings, ceiling medallions and light fixtures we can reach safely get dusted by hand. Ceiling fans get both sides of every blade.

Transoms and pocket doors

Transom glass and frames wiped on both sides. Pocket doors pulled out, edges and faces wiped, and the floor track vacuumed so the door slides instead of grinding.

Old bathrooms, gently

Original hex or subway tile, cast-iron and clawfoot tubs, pedestal sinks. Grout scrubbed with a brush and the right product, not acid. The claw feet and the floor underneath the tub get cleaned too.

Heart-pine and old wood floors

Vacuumed into the gaps between boards, then damp-mopped with a wrung-out pad. No soaking, no steam. Water sitting on old pine raises the grain and lifts the finish.

Mildew spots

Closet walls and baseboards, the sill under a window AC unit, shower caulk, the back of the toilet tank, bathroom ceilings above the shower. We treat it and wipe it down. We don't just cover it with fragrance.

Kitchens that get used

Cabinet faces degreased, range hood wiped, backsplash, stovetop and drip pans, microwave inside, top of the fridge, baseboards along the cabinet run.

Inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows and inside cabinets are add-ons. Tick them in the estimator and the price updates on the spot. With all the tall windows in a center-hall house, interior windows is usually the one worth adding.

What deep cleaning in New Orleans costs: deep vs. standard vs. move-out

These come straight from our price engine for a one-time visit to a house in normal condition. A place that's gone years without a real scrub, or one with two dogs and a cat, prices higher. If so, the estimator shows it before you book, so there are no surprises at the door.

HomeStandard cleanDeep cleanMove-in / move-out
1,200 sq ft, 1 bath (half a shotgun double, a Marigny cottage)about $210about $294about $368
1,800 sq ft, 2 baths (a camelback, a Mid-City bungalow)about $309about $432about $540
2,500 sq ft, 3 baths (a raised center-hall Uptown)about $453about $618about $763

How to pick: book a standard clean if the house is in decent shape and you just want it kept that way. Book a deep clean if you're living in it and the buildup has won: the molding is grey, the grout is tan, the transoms are fogged. Book move-out if the rooms are empty and you need inside every cabinet, closet and drawer before the walkthrough. Renters between leases usually want our move-out cleaning in New Orleans.

When the deep clean is done, The Standing Clean keeps the house there. That's 20% off weekly, 12% off every two weeks, or 5% off monthly, all off your first-clean price. Our minimum visit is $180.

Where we do deep cleaning in New Orleans

Deep cleaning New Orleans neighborhoods means planning for each one:

  • Uptown: raised center-halls and big doubles on the streets between St. Charles and Magazine. Lots of millwork, lots of glass, and oak pollen tracked in every spring. House cleaning Uptown.
  • Garden District: big older homes with plaster walls, marble mantels and cornices. Anything stone or plaster gets a pH-neutral product and a soft cloth. House cleaning in the Garden District.
  • Irish Channel: shotgun doubles and camelbacks, many of them rentals. The camelback stairs are steep and narrow, so we carry up a smaller vacuum instead of wrestling the big one.
  • Mid-City: raised bungalows and doubles around Canal Street and the Carrollton streetcar. Window units are everywhere here, and so are mildew lines on the sills below them. House cleaning in Mid-City.
  • Bayou St. John: older cottages and doubles near the bayou and Esplanade. Damp air off the water means closets and back bathrooms get a close look.
  • Gentilly: brick ranches and raised homes on slabs and piers. More square footage per bathroom than the old city, and tile floors where grout matters more than size.
  • Lakeview: many homes rebuilt raised after 2005, with stairs, big kitchens and lots of windows facing the lake breeze. House cleaning in Lakeview.
  • Marigny and Bywater: Creole cottages built right up to the sidewalk, with floor-to-ceiling shutters and plenty of street grit coming in through them. Original floors are common, so it's a dry clean first and a light damp mop after.
  • Treme: historic cottages and doubles near Armstrong Park. Old plaster and old pine, handled gently.
  • CBD and Warehouse District lofts: exposed brick, ductwork, concrete floors and big factory windows. Exposed ducts and brick ledges hold more dust than you'd guess. House cleaning in the Warehouse District.
  • Algiers Point: Victorian cottages and shotguns across the river, with the same old-house details as Uptown at a smaller scale. It's a regular stop for us, not a special trip.

We work from 1400 Cleary Ave in Metairie, so we also handle deep cleaning in Metairie. Kenner, Harahan, Gretna and the Northshore are covered too.

The New Orleans calendar, from a cleaner's point of view

The city's year shows up in its houses. These are the weeks people call us for deep cleaning in New Orleans:

  • After Mardi Gras. You hosted the parade crowd for a week. There's glitter ground into the rug, a bead under every cushion, king cake on the counter, and a bathroom that served thirty people. A deep clean the week after Fat Tuesday gets it all out.
  • Oak pollen season. In March and early April, live oak catkins and yellow pollen cover every porch, car and sill. Shotguns with the front door open pull it straight through the house. It ends up on fan blades, in window tracks and along the tops of transoms.
  • After Jazz Fest. Two weekends of houseguests, muddy shoes from the Fair Grounds, and a guest room that needs its sheets washed and its floor scrubbed. Late April into May is a good time to reset.
  • Termite swarm in May. Formosan termites swarm around lights on warm May evenings, and the wings pile up on sills, in light fixtures and in bathtubs. During swarm season we clear all of that as part of the deep clean.
  • The summer mildew stretch. June through September, with the AC working hard and the windows shut. Closets, shoes and the back walls of bathrooms. A late-summer deep clean catches it before it spreads.
  • Lease turnover. A lot of New Orleans leases end in summer, and renters move between doubles all over the city. If you're moving out, book move-out. If you're moving into a place that wasn't left clean, a deep clean or move-in cleaning before your boxes arrive is a lot easier than after.

  1. Get your price. Choose deep clean in the estimator, add your square footage, bathrooms, condition and any add-ons. It takes about a minute.

New Orleans deep cleaning questions we hear on the phone

How much does deep cleaning cost in New Orleans?

For a one-time deep clean on a house in normal condition, it's about $294 for 1,200 sq ft with 1 bath, about $432 for 1,800 sq ft with 2 baths, and about $618 for 2,500 sq ft with 3 baths. Heavy buildup, pets and add-ons like inside the oven raise it. The estimator gives you your exact flat price before you book.

My house has 12-foot ceilings. Can you actually reach the molding and the fans?

Yes. High ceilings are part of the job in an older New Orleans house, and we plan for them. Crown molding, ceiling fans, transoms and the tops of door casings are on the list. If a fixture is too high to reach safely, we'll tell you instead of guessing.

Will you ruin my old heart-pine floors?

No. We don't soak or steam old wood. The floor gets vacuumed into the gaps first, then a wrung-out microfiber pad goes over it. If your floors have a special finish or you have a product you like, leave it out and note it in the booking.

Can you get the mildew out of my closet and grout?

We can clean and treat the surface mildew on closet walls, baseboards, grout, caulk and window sills, and that makes a real difference. If it keeps coming back fast, the cause is usually moisture: a leak, a window unit draining wrong, or no airflow. We'll point out anything we see.

I'm a renter moving out. Do I want a deep clean or a move-out clean?

If your things are already gone, book move-out. It covers inside every cabinet, drawer and closet, which a landlord checks. If you're still living there and just want the place reset, book a deep clean.

Do you come to Algiers Point, Gentilly and Lakeview, or just Uptown?

All of them. Uptown, the Garden District, the Irish Channel, Mid-City, Bayou St. John, Gentilly, Lakeview, the Marigny, Bywater, Treme, CBD and Warehouse District lofts, and Algiers Point are all regular stops.

Do I have to be home during the deep clean?

No. Most people aren't. Leave entry instructions in your booking notes and we'll text you when the crew arrives and when they leave.

What if a parade or a storm changes my plans?

Rescheduling is free up to 48 hours before your clean. Inside 48 hours, a $50 late fee applies to skips and cancellations, because that slot was held for you. If you know a parade route is going to block your street, move the date early.

Before your crew shows up: old-house notes

A few minutes of prep makes the biggest difference in an older house. Here's what we ask before deep cleaning New Orleans homes with some age on them.

Tell us what's original

Original tile, marble, unsealed brick, old plaster, heart pine, a cypress mantel, stained glass in a transom. Put it in the notes. Old materials react differently to cleaners than new ones, and the safest way to clean them is knowing they're there before we start.

Point out the windows that stick

Plenty of old double-hung windows are painted shut or have broken sash cords. We won't force them. If you want tracks and sills done, tell us which windows open and which ones you'd rather we leave alone.

Turn off the window units

If you've got window AC units, switch off the ones in rooms you want sills and walls cleaned in. We wipe the front grille and the sill underneath, and a running unit just sprays condensation back onto a wet sill.

Parking and access

Street parking in the Quarter-adjacent neighborhoods, Uptown and the Marigny can be tight, and some doubles have a shared side alley or a gate. A note about where to park and which door to use saves time at the start.

Clear what you want cleaned

We'll move light furniture and clean behind it, but we don't sort your things. Clear the mantel, vanity and kitchen counter if you want those surfaces fully wiped, not cleaned around.

With that done, your deep cleaning New Orleans visit goes where it should: the molding, the grout, the transoms and the corners.
