NOLA Maid Easy cleaner arriving for a move in cleaning in Metairie, LA before the movers

Move in cleaning Metairie buyers and new renters book with us for a simple reason: you only get one shot at cleaning a house while it's empty. Once the couch is against the wall and the dishes are in the cabinets, the dust behind the baseboard and the crumbs in the drawer track are yours to live with. We clean it first, and you see the flat price online before you commit.

Here's the thing nobody tells you at closing. The seller's "clean" was for the listing photos, and the previous tenant's clean was for the walkthrough. Neither one was done for you. We find it every week — a ring of somebody else's hair in the shower drain, a sticky spot of honey on a top shelf nobody could reach, a freezer drawer with a frost-burned bag of shrimp still in it. A house can look fine on the final walkthrough and still need a real clean before you put your own toothbrush down.

Metairie adds its own twist. A house that sat closed up for a few weeks between owners, AC turned up to save money, has had time to grow a little mildew in the tub caulk, the back of a closet on an outside wall, and the fridge gasket. We look for it before you move in instead of letting you find it in August.

Move in cleaning Metairie — what's included

Think of it as everything you'll touch in the first week, cleaned before you touch it.

Where your dishes go

Inside every kitchen cabinet and drawer, shelves wiped and drawer tracks vacuumed. Tops of the cabinets, the pantry shelves, the lazy Susan in the corner. The inside of the oven with the racks and door glass, the inside of the fridge and freezer with every drawer pulled and washed, and the microwave, sink, faucet and range hood.

Bathrooms, sanitized

Tub and shower scrubbed, grout brushed, glass descaled, toilet cleaned inside, outside and down at the base where the bolts are. Vanity drawers and the medicine cabinet wiped out, exhaust fan cover cleaned. You shouldn't be using the last owner's grime for a single morning.

Closets and shelves

Every closet shelf, rod and floor. Linen closets, the coat closet, built-in bookshelves, the laundry room shelf above the washer hookup. Clean surfaces before your clothes and towels go on them.

The high and low stuff

Baseboards through the whole house, AC vent covers and return grilles, light fixtures and globes, ceiling fan blades, blinds slat by slat, window sills and tracks, light switches, door frames. Floors vacuumed and mopped edge to edge — including where the fridge and stove sit.

On a regular house clean, inside the oven, the fridge and the cabinets are add-ons. On a move-in they're part of the job. Pick move-in/move-out in the estimator and they're already in the price.

See your move-in cleaning price in 60 seconds

Choose move-in/move-out, type in the square footage and bathroom count, and tell it how the place looks. If you haven't seen it in person since the inspection, pick normal and add a note — we'll call if what we see is far off.

What move in cleaning in Metairie costs

Flat rate by the size of the house and the shape it's in. These are real numbers from our live price engine for a home in normal condition:

Home sizeStandard cleanDeep cleanMove-in / move-out
1,200 sq ft · 1 bathabout $210about $294about $368
1,800 sq ft · 2 bathsabout $309about $432about $540
2,500 sq ft · 3 bathsabout $453about $618about $763

The move-in column is higher than a deep clean because it covers the inside of every cabinet, drawer, oven and fridge, and because an empty house exposes a lot of floor and baseboard that's been hidden behind furniture for years. A house that was left rough — grease caked on the hood fan, a smoker's film on the walls, pet hair packed into the vent covers — moves the number. You see that move before you book, and the price doesn't change when the crew walks in.

Put another way: it's a fraction of what you just spent on inspections and closing costs, and it's the one line item you'll feel every day.

Timing move in cleaning in Metairie between closing and the movers

This is where most people get squeezed. The best window is short and it's real: after you have keys, before anything comes off the truck.

  • Book the day after closing (or the day after you get keys). That's the cleanest setup. You've got access, the house is empty, and nobody's waiting on us.
  • Same-day closing and moving? Ask your agent about early possession or getting keys the night before. If that's not happening, book us first thing and push the movers to the afternoon — the kitchen and bathrooms get done first so unpacking can start there.
  • Renting? Ask the property manager for keys a day before your lease start. Most Metairie landlords will say yes if you ask early.
  • Painting or refinishing floors first? Then the clean goes last. Paint and sanding dust settle for a day; clean after that, or you'll be wiping the same shelves twice.
  • Utilities on. Water and power need to be on the day we come. Get the transfer done before closing — it's one thing off the list.

Saturdays fill up fastest for move in cleaning in Metairie, especially at the end of the month when leases turn over. If your date is fixed, book as soon as you have a closing date. Rescheduling is free up to 48 hours before, so there's no penalty for booking early and moving it if closing slips.

New construction and freshly renovated homes

A brand-new house or a gut renovation looks spotless in the listing photos and isn't. Drywall dust is fine enough to float, and it lands on every horizontal surface for weeks after the sanding stops — inside cabinets, on top of door frames, in the tracks of every window, and all over the blades of the new ceiling fans. Turn the AC on for the first time and the vents push out whatever settled in the ductwork.

If the builder's crew already did their final clean and you're mostly looking at a light film of dust, our move in cleaning in Metairie handles it. If there's still paint overspray on the tile, labels on the windows, caulk smears on the tub and construction debris in the closets, that's a bigger job — see post-construction cleaning in Metairie. Not sure which? Send us a couple of photos and we'll tell you straight.

Where we do move in cleaning in Metairie and nearby

We're based on Cleary Avenue, so most of these are a short drive. The neighborhood tells us a lot about what the house is going to need:

  • Old Metairie — older homes on big lots off Metairie Road, lots of original hardwood, built-ins and tall cabinets. Plenty of these have been updated more than once, so we're often cleaning new kitchens inside old bones. Hardwood gets a damp mop only, never soaked.
  • Metairie Terrace — mid-century brick ranches with deep closets and plenty of original tile bathrooms. Old grout holds years of buildup; it gets a brush, not a quick wipe.
  • Bonnabel Place — up by the lake, a mix of renovated originals and newer raised builds. Buyers here are often moving in right after a remodel, so we plan for fine dust on every ledge.
  • Fat City apartments and condos — the blocks between Veterans and West Esplanade turn over a lot of leases. Smaller units, galley kitchens, one or two baths, and frequently a previous tenant who cleaned just enough for the walkthrough.
  • Lakeside — the streets around Lakeside Shopping Center and Causeway. Family homes, bigger kitchens, double vanities and more closet space to wipe out.
  • Bucktown — the old fishing neighborhood by the 17th Street Canal. Raised homes and newer builds up on pilings with a lot of stairs; salt air off the lake leaves a film on sliding doors and windows.
  • Kenner and Harahan — same flat pricing, same crews. Kenner's slab ranches with tile throughout and Harahan's quiet streets near the river are regular move-in stops for us.

Why new Metairie homeowners book us

Price before you book

You just closed on a house. You've had enough surprise fees. Our price shows up online in a minute and that's what you pay.

The inside of everything

Cabinets, drawers, oven, fridge, closets — all included in a move-in. No "that's extra" when the crew opens the pantry.

Our own people

Background-checked employees, not app contractors, and we're licensed, insured and bonded in Louisiana. They're going to be in your new house alone with a lockbox code — that matters.

Everything comes with us

Supplies, vacuum, ladders for the fans. Your house is empty; you don't need to buy a mop before you've found the light switches.

How to book your move-in clean

  1. Get your price. Choose move-in/move-out in the estimator, enter square footage and bathrooms, and pick the condition.
  2. Pick a date between keys and movers. Pay the $50 deposit to hold it — it comes off the total. Leave the lockbox or gate code in the notes.
  3. We clean, you get a text. One when the crew arrives, one when they're done. The rest goes on your card the morning of the clean.

Move in cleaning Metairie — what people ask on the phone

How much does move in cleaning cost in Metairie?

It's a flat price by size and condition. From our live price engine, a 1,200 sq ft home with one bath runs about $368, an 1,800 sq ft home with two baths about $540, and a 2,500 sq ft home with three baths about $763. Inside the oven, fridge and every cabinet is already included. The estimator shows your exact number before you book.

The house is new construction. Do I need a move-in clean or a post-construction clean?

If the builder's crew already did their final clean and you're seeing a fine layer of dust, a move-in clean covers it. If there's still drywall dust in the cabinets, paint flecks on the tile and stickers on the windows, that's a post-construction job — book that page instead or call and we'll tell you which one fits.

When should I book it — before or after closing?

After you have keys and before the movers. The day after closing is the sweet spot. If closing and the moving truck are the same day, ask your agent about getting keys a day early, or book the clean for the morning and push the movers to the afternoon.

Do the utilities need to be on?

Yes — water and power. We need hot water for the kitchen and bathrooms and lights to see what we're doing. If the AC is on too, even better; the place dries faster and the mildew stays away.

Do I need to be there?

No. Leave a lockbox code, a garage code or a key arrangement in the booking notes. Plenty of our move-in customers are still in another city when we clean. We text when the crew arrives and again when they're done.

Will you clean around boxes if some things are already moved in?

We can, but you lose most of the value. The whole point is reaching the inside of the cabinets and the floor under where the bed goes. If a few boxes are in, stack them in the middle of one room or the garage and we'll work around that one spot.

Can I set up regular cleaning after I move in?

Yes. Once you're unpacked, The Standing Clean puts the same crew in your home weekly, every two weeks or monthly at 5–20% off your first-clean price. No contract — skip or cancel with 48 hours' notice.

After you're settled: keeping the new house clean

The move-in clean resets the house. The first month after it is when things slide — boxes everywhere, the garage half full, and nobody has time to scrub a shower when the internet still isn't hooked up. That's normal. Here's how we suggest handling it.

Give yourself two or three weeks to unpack. Then set up The Standing Clean: the same crew, on the same day, weekly, every two weeks or monthly. It's 20% off your first-clean price weekly, 12% every two weeks and 5% monthly, with a $180 minimum visit. No contract. Most new homeowners in Metairie land on every two weeks — often enough that the kitchen and bathrooms never get away from you, without paying for a visit every week.

A few things worth doing on your own during the first month in a Metairie house:

  • Change the AC filter. Whatever the last owner left in there has seen a lot. A fresh filter cuts down the dust that settles on everything we just cleaned.
  • Run the dishwasher and washing machine empty on a hot cycle once before using them. It flushes out whatever sat in the lines.
  • Keep the AC on, even when you're not there. In this humidity a closed-up house grows mildew fast. Set it around 78 rather than off.
  • Check under the sinks after the first week. Slow drips show up once somebody's living in the house again. Better to see a damp cabinet floor early.
  • Watch for termite swarmers in May. If you see wings piled on a windowsill at dusk, that's Formosan swarm season, not dirt — call a pest company before you call us.

When you're ready for the first regular visit after your move in cleaning in Metairie, book it the same way you booked the move-in. We'll already know the house — that's the advantage of using the same company for both. For the full checklist we use on recurring visits, see house cleaning in Metairie.
